Wellness at Greystone Acres
Working with local practitioners, we’re developing health and wellness offerings, launching in the spring of 2026.
Apitherapy
Apitherapy, the use of bee products for healing, has been practiced for thousands of years by ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Chinese. Honey was used to heal wounds, and royal jelly was taken for energy. In the early 1900s, Austrian doctor Philipp Terc helped popularize bee venom therapy for rheumatic diseases in Europe. Today, apitherapy keeps developing as scientists study how bee products can help in modern medicine.
Grounded With Goats
Goats might seem unusual as therapy animals, but they have many qualities that make them great for this role. They are social and have unique personalities, like the people they meet. Their friendly and playful nature can boost mood and reduce stress and depression. Goats also live in groups, which helps them support mental health. They are curious and active, encouraging people to join in. This can create a feeling of community and help people connect.
Forest Bathing
Forest bathing, also called forest therapy or Shinrin-yoku, started in Japan in the 1980s. Many studies show that spending time in nature is good for your health. The idea is that being in a forest helps refresh your mind, body, and spirit. This is not new — people have long used forests to feel better. But as cities grew, we spent less time in nature and more time in busy urban areas, losing our connection to the natural world. Spending time in forests lowers cortisol, a stress hormone. This can help reduce high blood pressure, heart problems, skin issues, and asthma.
